Matte Earth Tones
Matte PLA in olive, terracotta, stone gray, and sand has surged in popularity. These colors look premium without post-processing — no painting required. They're especially popular for planters, desk organizers, and home decor prints. Our Forgely Performance PLA matte finishes are manufactured right here in Utah and dial in easily on any FDM printer.
Silk & Metallic Finishes
Silk PLA continues to dominate for decorative prints. Gold, copper, and silver silk filament produces a stunning sheen that looks like metal from a distance. Dual-color silk (e.g., blue-gold, red-copper) is the newest trend — the color shifts depending on viewing angle.

High-Visibility Neons
Neon green, orange, and pink are hot for functional and safety-related prints: drone parts, outdoor markers, tool handles, and custom safety equipment. Neon filaments also photograph extremely well for social media.
Classic Black & White (Still #1)
Despite all the specialty options, black and white PLA remain our top sellers by volume. Black hides layer lines well and looks professional. White is the best base for painting. Every serious maker keeps both on hand.
Transparent & Translucent
Clear PETG and translucent colored PLA are trending for light diffusers, lampshades, and decorative panels. Print with 0–1 top layers and 0% infill for maximum light transmission, or 2-3 perimeters for a frosted-glass effect.
Wood, Marble & Specialty Fills
Wood-fill PLA (with actual wood fibers) prints with visible grain and can be sanded and stained like real wood. Marble-fill PLA produces random veining patterns — every print is unique. These specialty filaments do require a 0.6mm+ nozzle to avoid clogs.
Note: Wood and marble fill filaments are abrasive. Use a hardened steel nozzle for extended printing, or swap back to brass for standard materials. See our nozzle guide for details.
