Print Settings Guide
Recommended slicer profiles for Forgely PLA filament — tested across the most popular FDM printers. Click any printer to expand its settings.
General Tuning Tips
First Layer Calibration
Dial in Z-offset before anything else. A good first layer hides a lot of tuning errors. Aim for slight squish — the line should be wider than your nozzle diameter.
Drying Your Filament
PLA is mildly hygroscopic. Dry at 45–50°C for 4–6 hours if you notice stringing, popping sounds, or bubbles in the extrusion. A food dehydrator works well.
Speed vs. Temperature
Higher speeds need higher temps to maintain good layer bonding. General rule: add +5°C for every 50 mm/s increase beyond 100 mm/s.
Cooling for Overhangs
PLA benefits from aggressive cooling — 80–100% fan is normal. Back off to 60–70% only if you see layer delamination on tall vertical walls.
Retraction Tuning
Too much retraction causes grinding and clogs. Start with the values in this guide and do a retraction tower test. Less is often more with PLA.
Print Farm Optimization
For multi-printer farms: standardize on one slicer profile per printer model, store profiles in version control, and test each new spool batch with a small calibration print before full production.
