Print Settings Guide
Recommended slicer profiles for Forgely PLA filament, tested across the most popular FDM printers. Click any printer to expand its settings.
General Tuning Tips
First Layer Calibration
Dial in Z-offset before anything else. A good first layer hides a lot of tuning errors. Aim for slight squish, the line should be wider than your nozzle diameter.
Drying Your Filament
PLA is mildly hygroscopic. Dry at 45–50°C for 4–6 hours if you notice stringing, popping sounds, or bubbles in the extrusion. A food dehydrator works well.
Speed vs. Temperature
Higher speeds need higher temps to maintain good layer bonding. General rule: add +5°C for every 50 mm/s increase beyond 100 mm/s.
Cooling for Overhangs
PLA benefits from aggressive cooling, 80–100% fan is normal. Back off to 60–70% only if you see layer delamination on tall vertical walls.
Retraction Tuning
Too much retraction causes grinding and clogs. Start with the values in this guide and do a retraction tower test. Less is often more with PLA.
Print Farm Optimization
For multi-printer farms: standardize on one slicer profile per printer model, store profiles in version control, and test each new spool batch with a small calibration print before full production.
