Help / Troubleshooting

Why is my PLA stringing?

Almost always moisture, retraction, or temperature. Here is the order to check them.

Stringing usually means one of three things: the filament absorbed moisture, retraction is too low for your hotend, or the print temperature is too high. Dry the spool at 45 °C for 4 hours, set retraction to 0.6 mm direct or 4 mm Bowden, and drop nozzle temp 5 °C. If stringing persists with a freshly opened, in-spec spool, it is settings — not material.
